Tong Li, Yangtze Delta, China Studies of traditional ecological practices in the Yangtze Delta region of China. The Study reveal  The various vernacular processes which has been used until recently to create a sustainable and holistic living landscape The use of three tiers fishing pond the growing of the bamboo for food and construction the use of mulberry trees to hold the ground and to provide food for  people,  birds and the silkworms which is produced in the area In addition the  building foundations space allowed for the disposal of the leftover food for the domestic animal and the deposition of the "night soil " as food  for bottom feeding aquatic wild life and fertilizers for the agriculture land.., Funded by a Zumberge Grant from the University of Southern California.
